Overview of the Role – Deck Rating
As a Deck Rating on the vessel, you will assist the Master in running all deck operations including craning, mooring, assist in planned maintenance and any other duties as instructed by the Master. You will also share onboard domestic duties including cooking and cleaning.
You will be required to work on shifts or such other working patterns onboard the vessel when necessary. Where the vessel is operating 12hrs a day, it will be moored overnight in the port and crew will accommodate onboard the vessel.
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake roles and responsibilities that include:-
• Assume responsibility onboard vessel as authorised and in the absence of the Master;
• Perform the safe navigation and operation of the vessel in an environmentally sound manner in cooperation with or in the absence of the Master and in accordance to statutory regulations and QHSE procedures;
• Assist Master on vessel documentations and certifications
• Ensure all lifting appliances onboard are properly tested, certified and in working condition;
• Participate in vessel drills and conduct familiarisation and/or training of new crew when required;
• Monitor operational condition and conduct proper maintenance of vessel’s medical stores, deck equipment, life-saving and fire-fighting appliances and other safety systems and stores onboard;
• In cooperation with the Master to ensure vessel is loaded and discharged in accordance to safe practices, statutory requirements and company guidelines; and
• Any other duties as assigned.

The Safety Management Contractor will assist in the revamp and comprehensive revision of the Safety Management Manual over the next 12 months. This will ensure alignment with the regulatory standards and industry best practices, including the ISM Code, RightShip, DryBMS, and charterer standards from industry leaders such as BHP and Rio Tinto.
• Review and rewrite the Safety Management Manual (SMM) to incorporate new guidelines, regulatory mandates and eliminate redundant clauses built-in over the years.
• Reorganize the current SMM into sections for ease of read, understanding and efficiency for all stakeholders.
• Collaborate with ship management departments to collect and analyze current working practices, ensuring the integration of safety practices into operational procedures.
• Conduct thorough research on the latest regulatory standards and best practices, including Rightship, DryBMS, and relevant industry benchmarks related to safety management.
• Ensure compliance with DryBMS at an intermediate level, particularly in the Priority 17 areas.
