Role Purpose:
The Solution Engineer provides pre-sales services to both internal and external customers focusing on the implementation and deployment of Plex offerings. The primary focus of the position is to support the Plex Sales Team in working with our Customers on their Digital Transformation with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM).
Reporting to the Manager of Solution Engineering, in this position you will be providing pre-sales support (Technical, Operational, and Value oriented) to the Plex Sales force and ensure a consistent and efficient handover to our delivery organization and by that help drive these engagements to a successful closure.
The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to interact and influence effectively across all levels of the company. In addition, strong commercial, product/service/solution and application skills are necessary. This position requires moderate to extensive travel primarily within region but could include opportunities in our other global regions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to RFIs and RFQs
• Work with Plex sales representatives on sales strategies, plans and execution
• Present qualitative and quantitative value of the proposed solutions
• Configure MES demonstrations, create custom presentations and documents that clearly state customer business problems and Plex solutions and benefits
• Provide guidance to customers and implementers on ways to deploy proposed products including alternatives and their costs and benefits
• Work with deployment teams (internal or partners) on deployment strategies and specific proposals as needed
• Prepares technical materials, presentations, and tools to improve sales force effectiveness
• Evaluates products and provides feedback on product features and performance
• Understand and challenge the customer’s needs, analyze the gaps and propose solutions.
• Prepare and execute MES demonstration of our systems.
• Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and Is a self-sufficient knowledge worker
• Communicate and sell the value of Plex solutions focused on the manufacturing Supply Chain.
• Develop and perform technical software demonstrations specific to customer needs and concerns.
• Perform solution discovery tasks to understand a prospect’s business and their key business concerns.
• Assist the sales executive in relationship management, technical sales and sales tool development.
• Support the sales process and address objections efficiently.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other Business or Technical Field
• Solid understanding of industry specific applications, manufacturing principles and how to apply them.
• Expertise in at least one of the following industries: Food and Beverage, General Manufacturing, Automotive.
• Knowledge in one or more manufacturing applications such as:
o MES, MOM, ERP, QMS
• Knowledge in Manufacturing Operations with core tools such as:
o MRP, Production Scheduling, Quality Management Systems, Inventory Control, Industrial Automation
• 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing disciplines including Quality and Lean Principles, Production Scheduling, Inventory Control, and Production Reporting.
• 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing environment.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task projects and responsibilities.
• Ability to interact positively with clients and internal departments.
• A strong presence, business savvy, and exceptional presentation skills are a must.
• Experience constructing/preparing presentation to address manufacturing company’s business needs.
• Experience with Enterprise SaaS applications desired.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
