The Associate Planning Director will assist the Planning Director in developing and executing innovative and targeted marketing solutions across various media channels to achieve or exceed client objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Client Management
-Establish a partnership with clients by gaining a deep understanding of their business environment.
-Provide business solutions through media strategies for assigned brands.
-Fully manage accounts to ensure communication strategies and executions align with clients' business directions.
-Implement key initiatives and business solutions based on clients' goals, business needs, and priorities.
-Handle client requests appropriately (e.g., push back on unreasonable timelines, assess the value of ad hoc requests).
-Take proactive ownership of assigned brands.
-Maintain regular WIPs, discussions, and reviews to ensure effective workflows.
-Continuously improve and uphold agency evaluation standards.
-Develop and mentor high-performing team members as needed.
2. Business Partner Management
-Maintain strong relationships with senior business partners (e.g., creative teams, media owners) to obtain the latest market insights and add value to brand objectives.
-Conduct professional briefings to business partners on innovative strategies and ensure alignment with client objectives.
-Establish clear partnership processes with business partners (e.g., defining rules of engagement).
-Build rapport with senior business partners and ensure all communications are properly documented.
-Secure the best value in all media buying and marketing negotiations.
-Manage and resolve conflicts among executives and managers.
3. Research & Media Applications Proficiency
-Guide and assist managers in troubleshooting media application tools.
-Demonstrate proficiency in using advanced functions of media tools.
-Leverage proprietary consumer insight tools or alternative data sources for in-depth analysis.
-Be well-versed in the agency's media planning approach and methodologies.
4. Financial Management
-Identify opportunities for organic business growth.
-Adhere to financial policies and uphold integrity to avoid violations or potential fraud.
-Assist team members in reconciling media payment variances for assigned brands.
-Work closely with team members to ensure accurate and timely invoicing (e.g., regularly reviewing unbilled reports, resolving outstanding cases with Finance).
-Address and resolve any aging payment issues.
-Accurately forecast business performance for assigned accounts on a monthly and annual basis.
5. Industry Knowledge (Consumer, Business, or Brand Insights)
-Demonstrate a strong understanding of and ability to forecast media, industry, and brand development trends.
-Assess the strategic implications of media, industry, and brand trends, identifying opportunities and threats to the business in both the short and long term.
6. Investment Management
-Optimize allocated investments or appropriately distribute resources based on media and brand requirements.
- Provide investment recommendations to clients, ensuring budgets are aligned with desired objectives.
-Supervise cost management across various media channels for assigned brands.
-Master contract management (e.g., proposal, negotiation, tracking fulfillment, etc.).
-Contribute to action plans in expenditure reports.
-Reconcile all discrepancies in cost and investment reports.
