We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the development of innovative mechanical solutions for portable consumer electronics. This role involves managing the end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) process, ensuring seamless execution from concept to production.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mechanical engineering, proven leadership capabilities, and a successful track record of managing complex projects within OEM, ODM, or EMS business models. The Mechanical Engineering Manager will drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and ensure the team delivers solutions that meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Software Development, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Manufacturing—is critical to ensure smooth product development and launch.
【Key responsibilities 】
- Lead, manage, and mentor the mechanical engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies from concept to production.
- Establish and implement engineering best practices, processes, and standards to ensure technical excellence and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical designs are seamlessly integrated with electrical, software, and manufacturing requirements.
- Drive the execution of multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and meeting quality standards.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and feasibility studies to ensure robust and reliable designs.
- Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and team workload to meet organizational goals and deadlines.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation activities to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges, including material selection, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, materials, and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, certifications, and regulatoryrequirements.
【Work Environment】
- Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, or testing sites in Asia may be required.
- Hybrid work options may be available depending on project requirements.
【Qualifications】
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience in leading mechanical design and development projects in consumer electronics, telecom industries, smartphones, or tablets.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, or equivalent).
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, die casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience with HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) during the NPI process and Ongoing Reliability Testing throughout the product lifecycle.
- Expertise in DOE (Design of Experiment) methodology, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and cost optimization techniques.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, timelines, and documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on delivering practical and innovative solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
