This role will serve as the R&D representative within the leadership team, shaping and aligning local research and development as well as business development strategies with overall company goals. The individual selected for this pivotal position will play a critical role in supporting key account clients across the full spectrum of product applications. Over time, this role may expand to include team leadership responsibilities, particularly as the business continues to deliver customized solutions to semi-industrial and industrial customers.
Responsibility:
A) Leadership in Research & Development
• Oversee a team composed of one R&D and five technical members.
• Guide the team by setting clear direction and aligning their efforts with broader business goals.
B) Innovation, Project Delivery & Technical Engagement
• Lead the development pipeline to address both current market trends and strategic priorities such as health, sustainability, target channels, and key client needs - all while ensuring compliance with local laws.
• Represent the company’s advanced know-how through technical presentations and educational sessions for major clients.
• Maintain close collaboration with key customers by actively supporting project development and addressing on-site technical challenges.
• Uphold product quality and food safety requirements while ensuring strict confidentiality.
• Safeguard intellectual property and follow corporate protocols.
• Facilitate in-house product training sessions for commercial and operational teams.
• Drive the implementation of digital technologies and process automation.
C) Enhancing Operational Efficiency & Profit Contribution
• Actively support manufacturing, QA, and QC functions with technical input.
• Partner with procurement and production teams to identify opportunities for cost optimization in formulations.
D) Stakeholder Collaboration & Strategic Networking
• Contribute to local leadership discussions and ensure seamless project execution across teams.
• Build trusted relationships with leadership in other markets to foster collaboration.
• Strengthen internal ties across headquarters, regional offices, and global teams to exchange insights and co-create solutions.
• Establish a reliable network of external partners - including clients and suppliers - to anticipate industry shifts and fast-track innovation initiatives.
Qualifications
• Holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, with foundational knowledge of ingredient functions, food additives, and core principles of food chemistry.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities to effectively share concepts and promote products.
• Demonstrated skills in planning and organizing, with a keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset.
• Proactive, collaborative, and maintains a positive outlook.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin, both spoken and written. Proficient in both oral and written communication.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Practical background in bakery or pastry is an advantage.
• Prior hands-on involvement in large-scale bakery, pastry, or chocolate manufacturing is a plus.
