Hoganas Taiwan Limited was formed in 1991 and is a wholly owned sales subsidiary of Hoganas AB, Sweden. Hoganas AB is a leading producer of iron and steel powders for powder metallurgy, welding and chemical/metallurgical application, iron oxides for copying machines, gas atomised nickel, iron and cobalt based hardfacing powders and micronised products (e.g. Ferro alloys, heavy metal and tungsten carbide). The original Hoganas was established in 1797 to exploit local deposits of coal and clay, which were discovered at the end of the 16th century. Manufacturing of sponge iron by reduction of iron ore from northern Sweden started in 1911. The production technique, the Hoganas Sponge Iron Process, was invented and developed within the company. Large scale production of iron powder through powderised sponge iron commenced in 1946, and Hoganas has since then also developed water and gas atomising production technologies and become the leading producer of iron and metal powder in the world. The main production facilities are located in Hoganas and Halmstad, Sweden. Hoganas also has combined production and sales companies in Belgium, India, Japan and China and sales companies in France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, South Korea, Taiwan and Germany. The main business of Hoganas Taiwan Limited(HTL) concerns the sales, within Taiwan of the company’s products that are produced in Sweden, Belgium, China, Japan, USA, ect.
