General features of job:
The senior press and cultural affairs officer is primarily responsible for providing people, businesses and institutions with information- and identifying their information needs.
The senior press and cultural affairs officer is accountable to the Director for providing people, businesses and institutions with information and identifying their information needs.
The senior press and cultural affairs officer takes decisions on the information to be provided, requests to experts to provide additional information, and proposals for improving communication with people, businesses and institutions.
Extra responsibilities in comparison with press and cultural affairs officer :
In addition to work in the area of press and cultural affair, the employee must also have in-depth knowledge of and practical specialist expertise in the field national politics, both at a national as well as municipal level, as well as of cross-strait affairs.
For this, the employee has ample background knowledge and a more than superficial interest in these matters. The work does not merely involve tackling issues and solving problems, but also analysing them and advising to the Head of Office and/or other Management Team members.
The work is carried out in accordance with broadly formulated assignments. To a large extent the employee makes his/her own choices and decisions about approach and way of working.

Actual duties
Public relations (40%)
• Formulating and implementing the office integrated public relation strategy, as part of the Annual Plan Cycle (APC), drawing on input of the various verticals of the Office, in line with relevant policies and guidelines.
• Writing public speeches and producing presentation slides for the head and the deputy head of office at public occasions.
• Managing the office's website, social media platforms, and related public activities.
• Liaising with influencers of relevant sectors to find opportunities to promote the Netherlands through them.
• Assisting all Office's departments with the organization of marketing events.
• Overseeing the production of promotional content and event documentation in the forms of video, photography, and writing.
Culture (30%)
• Draft and implement, as part of the APC, an integrated strategy to promote Dutch culture in Taiwan, in line with relevant policies and guidelines.
• In this context, endeavour to create synergy with cultural attaches in the region.
• Manage the annual call for proposals for implementation of our Cultural policy.
• Helping to maintain records and lists of artists, art organizations, community groups, funders and others to promote participation in and to manage the sponsorship of cultural activities.
Press (10%)
• Handling enquiries from journalists and other media contacts.
• Arranging and organising press events, interviews and press conferences.
• Liaising with media representatives and managers.
• Monitoring current affairs and coverage of the organization of media.
Other advisory tasks (20%)
• Monitor domestic political developments in Taiwan, and developments in international relations, in particular using Chinese-language media.
• Be aware of the impact of geopolitical developments on the situation in Taiwan.
• Report on relevant developments, write updates for the Headquarters and advise Head of Office and/or other members of the Management Team.
• Brief the Head of Office and/or other members of the policy staff on the general and recent political context of visits to and meetings with Taiwanese dignitaries, either at central or municipal level, to the extent relevant.
