The Technical Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical management of a fleet of vessels. This includes day to day overseeing maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role involves close collaboration with ship crews, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain the vessels' operational readiness.
1. Vessel Management:
- Oversee the technical performance and maintenance of assigned vessels.
- Ensure vessels comply with international and local regulations, class requirements, and company standards.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to ensure safety and operational standards are met.
2. Maintenance and Repairs:
- Plan and supervise scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking.
- Manage budgets and control costs related to technical operations.
- Coordinate with shipyards and contractors for repair and maintenance works.
3. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Implement and monitor safety management systems and procedures.
- Liaise with flag states, classification societies, and other regulatory bodies.
4. Crew Support:
- Provide technical support and guidance to vessel crews.
5. Procurement and Inventory:
- Oversee the procurement of spare parts, stores, chemicals, lubricants, paints, equipment, and supplies.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure timely availability of critical spares.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and service providers.
- Collaboratively work with purchaser to provide the spare parts, stores, chemicals, lubricants, paints, equipment, and supplies on board of vessel.
6. Budgeting and Reporting:
- Prepare and manage technical budgets for assigned vessels.
- Monitor and report on technical expenditures and variances.
- Prepare technical reports and updates for management.
